About Our School

Mountain View Elementary School served approximately 500 students in grades K-6 in 2020-21. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to ensuring the academic success of every student and providing a safe and productive learning experience. The school holds high expectations for the academic and social development of all students. Curriculum planning, staff development, and assessment activities are focused on assisting students in mastering the state academic content standards, as well as increasing the overall student achievement of all subgroups.

Mission Statement:
Students at Mountain View Elementary School will receive maximum opportunities to be successful, productive citizens. Working as a TEAM, the staff is committed to:

  • Together – Providing all students with the opportunity to achieve academic success guided by standards-driven instruction, staff development (involving current research and best practices), and promoting parent awareness and involvement.
  • Everyone – Working together to establish a positive and safe learning environment that promotes the Pillars of Character Counts: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness and Justice, Caring, and Citizenship.
  • Achieves – Achieving excellence through a challenging and supporting environment that will enable students to become productive members of society.
  • More – Maximizing opportunities for staff and students to gain an appreciation for the value of learning on “our” journey to become lifelong learners.

Opportunities for Parental Involvement
Parent involvement and communication are essential to our school success. Mountain View Elementary School continually strives to involve parents by sharing information that helps parents understand and support school programs and by providing opportunities for parent participation in school activities. Spanish translation is provided for parents who have that need. There are numerous and varied opportunities for parent involvement, including but not limited to, attending school functions, participating in parent-teacher conferences, volunteering in classrooms, and chaperoning field trips. Parents may also serve on advisory committees and leadership teams, including, but not limited to, the English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC), School Site Council (SSC) and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Additional opportunities for parental involvement also exist at the district level.

Parents who would like more information on how to become involved may contact Principal Amy Jones at (559) 730-7783.

Our mission is all about TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More. Our theme this year is "Stronger Together".   We are a school that values staff working together with our students and their families, committed to high expectations and increasing student achievement. We welcome parents and others to visit Mountain View and join us on our journey as we become lifelong learners.
